Smart Panel
Overview
We aimed to optimize user experience for participants in a market research study called Smart Panel. We wanted to improve current user flow and brainstorm ways to better explain payments to participants. There was also interest in an entire app redesign, including an unique dashboard or homepage for Smart Panel study participants.
Goals:
Develop a quicker, more intuitive set-up process
Clearly articulate the incentive structure to users
Create transparency with earnings and payouts
Encourage user engagement.
Solutions Provided
To address key user pain points and align with the client’s broader goal of optimizing user engagement, I delivered a series of targeted design solutions focused on clarity, efficiency, and transparency:
Streamlined Navigation and User Flow
By refining existing pages and minimizing cognitive load, users are able to complete setup and navigate through the app more intuitively, significantly reducing the time and effort required to get started and maintain participation.
In-App Payment Notifications
New notification system was introduced to inform users in real time when money is earned, reinforcing a sense of progress and immediate reward for participation.

Incremental UI Improvements
While a full dashboard redesign remains a long-term goal, I implemented immediate, lightweight enhancements to existing Activities and Devices pages—such as simplified text, stronger visual hierarchy, and improved gesture feedback—to create a more cohesive and user-friendly experience in the short term.

Enhanced Payment Transparency
New comprehensive My Wallet page clearly displays earnings in USD, offers a visual breakdown of completed tasks via an interactive graph, and highlights opportunities for additional income—all aimed at demystifying the payment process and building user trust.
